This ongoing set of etchings originates from collages where the figure is removed & supplemented by images of internal organs often sourced from medical journals, then subjected to reinvestigation through etching. As the figure diminished it's symbolic value becomes more apparent revealing subtle psychological insights and tensions between domestic fantasy and reality.

The work draws inspiration from domestic scenes and within the parameter of the image questions what an environment might be and how an atmospheric dilemma might be created. Within this environment the figure assumes a character in a complex relationship of individuals, relationships and scenarios.

Discovering that the notion of the other can be taken into another territory by repression, horror and alienation the images evolve subconsciously to create a character in order for the work to invent itself and exist on its own terms.

The work questions private and public identity, social roles and media associated aesthetics. Common poses, ideals of beauty and the superficiality of perfect form play with ideas of seduction whilst the traditional process of etching gives the work an ambiguous narrative.
